I just put a set on.
The lower bolts are easily turned onto conventional nuts held with the hand on the backside, your fingers fit up there no problem. That allows more torque on the lower position- as the top clips are "light".
I later replaced these top clips with speed nuts from Ace. 1/4 20.

with light dabs of "paste" locktite allied to the threads on the nuts.

as pointed out above, these can be used with the backrest adjuster, and I too, am thinking a nifty place to mount a switch or 2.

I also have the adjustable backrest and I cut a hole in the left one to mount it in. I will get some pic's and post them later today. It's right at my finger tips whe I lower my left arm, push it down to adjust.

I put them on my 2008 Ultra about a month after I bought the bike. Drilled out to accept the adjustable backrest control on the left side. Bike now has 52K on her and these have never needed tightening. I did not use a torque wrench, just snugged them up. Careful...Over tightening WILL crack the plastic...

Thanks, that's good to know. So can you reach the adjuster and move it during flight just like I can do now without the deflectors please?

Thats good news...if they stated tight for all that mileage....it should be good to go....DL

For those that are questioning how the work with the adjustable riders back rest. Here is mine, removed from metal frame, copy pattern, cut.
I did mark where my finger would rest with arm down to reach. Alot easier than reaching down and behind shield.
Also painted when I had inner done.
