Road King wind beat me up!

I really didn't experience the buffeting some talk of but I get a pretty strong breeze from under the tank that blows directly under my chin. It's a bit chilly with temps in the high 30's & low 40's that we have this time of year. Call me a candy-*** poser but not only is it cold but can take the fun outta a long ride......

Do the harley walrus tusk fork deflectors come on/off easy if you want to change the look? For instance, for 80% of my riding its short haul at 60mph and there is no buffeting so I don't need them. If I want to take off on a 800 mile ride over two days, they might be kind of nice.

God forbid a biker deal with wind. What kind of pansies are riding nowadays!
If you don't want wind get a sports car (and not a convertible). But I guess that is why forums exist so the people can "air" their issues. I am to busy enjoying the ride to worry about the wind.

The wind that swirls up and over the top of the gas tank is the most irritating on long highway rides. I came from an Ultra Classic to my current RKC, and the wind slapping your chest and face comes from below. I put on a set of Kuryakyn fork mounted wind deflectors today and the wind coming up from below the gas tank was all but gone. They were very effective at eliminating the highway buffeting. The only problem with the Kuryakyn wind deflectors, other than the looks, is that is they cut down quite a bit of the air flow over the engine. It was only 78 degrees here today, and I noticed the bike getting a bit warmer with these things installed. I'll put them on the shelf and save them for extended highway riding.

Make your own decision. Plenty of other info out there in this if you search. Just remember once it starts it is irreversible.

Threads really take on a life of their own, don't they? Wow... I just want to emphasize that the thrust to make these mods was due to the wind from below not so much the wind directly on. Even with the shorted shield it wasn't too bad. I did buy the recurve just in case. With my 1/2 bucket and the little snap on visor it was torture. The first thing I did was take that visor off. I really think the tree baffle is the key. That's all I had on my 2000 and I don't remember it being that bad.
