thinking of putting the harley 12" mini apes on my 09 ultra. but now have found the Yaffe 10" bars. anyone put either of these bars on? i want my hands up yet still behind the very top of the batwing. anyone have experience with these? also will i be able to use heated hand grips? the parts book says no but i dont see any reason it wont and in my experience the parts book isnt always correct. thanks

 

I just installed the 10" Yaffe Bagger apes, installed where they should be, they still top the edge of the fairing.

 

Just started on my 12" HD mini apes install and your hands with be in the wind!

 

Subscribed! I love the Yaffe bars too but dont want my hands above the fairing. When I rode to go trade my FXST in on my FLHX last week in 38 degree weather my hands were about to freeze off. I tested the FLHX other day and there is a NOTICEABLE difference when you get your hand above the fairing.....duh. I wonder if you could lean the 10" Yaffe bars back some to get them low enuff? Would prolly look stupid.

 

thanks for reply. any buddy else that has installed 10's? please post pics so i can see how high they are. I am actually thinking of rolling them back just a bit to stay behind the top of the fairing and be able to kick back a bit more

You should be able to roll them back enough to get some hand protection from the fairing. The PY's are a little wider then the fairing, so maybe not full protection. I adjusted mine to where the feel the best. Rolling them back may bring them to close to be comfortable, but you wont know until you play with them.

I have Heat Demons in mine, They take the edge off of, but the tops of your hands ant finger tips still get cold, whether on stock bars or the apes.

 

yea thanks Steeler. I have Khrome Werks sweepers now and i like them better than stock but i have 14" apes on my springer and i LOVE that postition. i am hoping thiese new bars will make long rides feel move comfortable.
