Default Replacing front brake lines...advice needed

I am in the process of replacing the front brake lines. Any suggestions on how best to empty the brake lines on an Electra Glide?

Thanks

I didn't want to spend the money on a plastic POS brake vac system, so I built my own. Already had a general purpose manual vac, so I made this catch from a mason jar, barbed tube fittings, JB weld, and vinyl tubing. Works great.

I understand the reverse method which I plan on using but what confuses me is how this work with dual front brakes? How do you bleed both lines at once? Can I reverse bleed one side at a time?

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

You can bleed one at a time; at the "Y" ot "T" whatever you wanna call it, there will be an interruption. So you can hook up the left caliper and drain it all the way from the top down, master cyl and line will be empty all the way to the bleed nipple, but the right side will still have fluid up to the dual junction in the line. bleed the right then all done. With the constant vacuum system, you can hook up both bleed nipples at the same time, it's just a little faster but not necessary.

I just used a turkey baster for M/Cyl, and plastic tubing at the bleeder nipples. Worked just fine. Had to buy the wife a new baster but what the heck.

Has anyone used this tool from Harbor Freight to bleed brakes?

Looks like about the same vac pump I use with the homemade mason jar catch. It should work just fine. Don't get any brake fluid in the pump, it will ruin the seals and kill the vac pump, ask me how I know.

Mine was an Actron pump I got from Sears many years ago, not sure about the HF model but they look the same. Surprisingly I found a repair kit cleaned it all up and went again, been working fine. Anyway the kit is only $2.50 worth a try. http://www.actron.com/product_detail.php?pid=16244
