Default Progressive 440 13 inch Shock On A FLHX

I just installed a set last night, but it doesn't have the slammed look anymore. I haven't taken it on a test ride yet either. For those of you that have made this upgrade how do you like the ride? Is there a shock that rides better than the stock air shock but will keep the slammed look? Thanks for any advice given.

How much more of a lift are they compared to the stock, 1-2"? Probably better travel... I like the slammed look too, so wondering how the ride is as well.

12" is the std length for the FLHX (SG).
The notes for the 440 series on the application page:
"FLHRS/FLHX stock shock length is 12.00"."

I went with the 940 UT's which provide travel of a 13" shock, but still sit like a 12". One of the best mods I made. No more spine stingers from bottoming out.

From Progressives website on the 940's
"Specifically designed to deliver a comfortable ride at a 1" lowered stance. Built around our "Best in Class" IAS technology, The Ultra Touring shocks utilize all the suspension travel provided by these 13" eye to eye units, but provide a 1" lowered ride height. The unique Ultra Touring spring combination not only delivers a lowered ride height while its being ridden, but also while its on the side stand."

I didn't know about the 940 UT before I brought these from a member.

Just about any Progressive, HD Premium, Ricor, Race Tech, Ohlins, etc is going to ride better than stock. It's just about how much you want to spend and how much better you want. In the end though, they all are an improvement.

Progressive 940's all my buddies that had them switched to
the 440HD 12.5" FLHX and FLHTCU

I have the 13" 440 HD and hate the ride hight

I think Progressive came up with the 12.5" cause these 13" are at least .5" to .375" "taller" ride hight than OEM Air at full 50 psi.....

I'd love to trade my 13" 440 HD for a set of 440HD 12.5"

I have 3,500 miles

I disagree. The 940's provided more travel, and felt better to me.


My friend has an EG with 440 12.5, and we swapped for a weekend trip.

I Like the 940's better than 440 hd 12.5. Maybe your buddies like to ride 2 up, or our weights are different. I also I am riding with an 18" rear tire, and a 19" front. Front forks are mono tube as well.

The 940's worked out better for me on a SG. I ride mostly solo. 6'4" 210 lbs

Either way, it is a big improvement over the stock crap air shocks on the SG's.
