Default air shock pump

I have a question. Is a bicycle frame type hand pump ($16) with pressure guage from walmart just as good as the hand pump from the HD dealer ($60) for adding air to the road king shocks?

a bicycle pump is likely to blow the air lines off.

the H-D pump ( and there are other sources) is more like a syringe---and easy to pack too.

I agree. The HD pump is very small and introduces a VERY small amount of air with each stroke. And, it doesn't take very many strokes to raise the shock pressure quite a bit. Just buy the correct one and you don't risk damaging your expensive to replace (MUCH more than $60) shocks. JMO.

Ride safe!

I tried going this route also and couldn't find a bicycle pump that had low enough readings for the shocks. The HD pump is worth it. You can find them on craigslist and ebay for the half the price.

Yep, go with the HD pump. Should be plenty of used ones available with many riders upgrading the stock shocks and no longer need the pump...

I definately agree with everyone. Plus like stated before the stock pump is cheaper than replacing the shocks after you ruin them

I bought a bicycle pump for mountian bikes. The pump is for the front shocks. There is a meter on the pump so I don't over fill my tires. It worked fine and did not take up too much space. Since the purchase I changed my shocks to progressive, not because I ruined the old ones, but because the old ones had a slow leak and I go tired of pumping them up. When riding two up they tended to bottom out. This no longer happens with the progress shocks.
