Manual says to remove the speedo cable and undo 2 Allen nuts and push speedo out in a rearward direction. Thing won't budge only thing I wonder, does the whole plastic back come with or does speedo sit in the plastic back and u use a rod to push it out?

The whole thing should just come out towards the back of the bike.

 

Sometimes they stick and you have to give it a knuckle thump to break it free.
