Ive never heard of that personally but it is a great excuse to upgrade to TD

Happened on mine 2 years ago and I didn't notice it until I'd driven it enough miles that the rear exhaust valve stuck and tapped the piston. In my case a new exhaust AND a set of take off heads fixed the problem.

Harley strengthened the Y pipe in '97 but they still break all too frequently. Just don't knowingly ride on a broken Y pipe!

Since you have to take everything off anyway, I would seriously consider "upgrading" to either a true dual, a 2 into 1 into 2, or a 2 into 1. Lots of superior choices out there. Makes no sense to go back to the OEM design with all of it's problems.

Happen to my '01 in '06, had it welded, worked fine. Got rid of it when I went to true duals from FullSac.
