Default Is $11,000 a good price for a 50,000 mile '05 Ultra

I have an opportunity to buy a used '05 Ultra, metallic blue, with 50,000 miles on it. It has a full service history, is one owner and has spent the past year or so doing some serious touring (obviously...). Anyway, is $11K a good price for this bike? What is the expected longevity of the 88 CI Twin Cam? What major things will wear out or go wrong in the next little while?

If anyone has some knowledge on this matter, I would greatly appreciate it!!

You better grab it befor someone else does. If there is nothing wrong with the bike that is a good deal. Lets put it this way, I would not sell my 03 ultra for that!! good luck. Nice Xmas present!!!!

As long as the bike has been well maintained, you should get many (at least another 50000) miles outta that bike. $11000 sounds pretty good to me.

Jump on it. I paid $9500.00 for a 70,00 mile (rebuilt at 50k) 93 E-Glide, so I think that is a VERY good deal.

Horrible deal! Way to much... don't even think about buying it... where is it at?

BTW, joke... sounds like a great deal, I would get it if you have the dough.

Depending on whats already been done to it, expect to have to replace cam chain tensioners, inner cam bearing and lifters. Also find out if it has had the Valve seals replaced. '05's have a common leaking valve seal issue.

Got $16,000 trade-in for my 2005 Vivid Black Ultra with 24,000 miles. It was very clean and back to stage 1 condition. Hope it helps with a base line for pricing. You may also want to check on EBAY under the completed auctions.

Sounds like a very reasonable price. As Springer_ mentioned, it'd be a good idea to goa ahead and check/replace a couple of thos items that do wear over time.

Generally speaking, the 05's were great bikes. THey did have funky valve seals, but with the newer style seals installed, it becomes a non-issue.

Thanks for the input folks. It sounds like it's a good deal if the bike is mechanically sound. I think I'll go ahead with it. See you on the road...

...and thanks to Springer and PhilM for the advice on cam chain tensioners, valve seals, etc. When I take delivery, I'll get this looked at. Would I expect to pay than a grand for this work?
