I have a 530i. It's worse in the snow than my RKC! All the weight's in the front and it's rear wheel drive. Fantastic handling until there's snow or ice, then it becomes a toboggan.

 

It's tough, but when given lemons, make.....a cam upgrade! Which I am doing because my inner cam bearings are crap ;-) Can't wait for April to test it out.

Doing winter mods. Like cams and exhaust. Only problem is that project should be done in the next couple of weeks. Thats when it will be hard as now I not only want to get out and ride I also want to see how much better it runs

 

So see we have lots to keep us occupied:

4. Pledge or other cleaner threads
5. Tires threads, especially dealing with Metzler vs Dunlop vs Cobra
6. Seat threads
7. Poser threads
8. What should I buy - bike only threads (new frame vs old frame)
9. What should I buy FOR the bike (ride versus just start spending $$)
10. SE compensator threads
11. Shock (start with the cheap progressives to the more expensive or just do Ohlins) threads
12. The Truly customizing versus buying some crap to throw on bike threads
13. Dealer hater or love threads
14. Moco sucks threads
15. Moco rules threads
16. Who's LED crap is better thread (justifying spending 3 times the $ necessary to make sure you are seen from behind)
17. Center stand threads
18. Which insurance is best and covers all the customization (see #12 to understand and define extras vs customization) thread.
19. Should and what is a stage 1 - and who besides FM is the best route to go and why thread, (then justifying spending three time $ necessary to give bike that seat satisfaction thrill)
20. How do we deal with not being able to ride, threads.


See we got lots to do for 3 months. ;-)

 

I think being able to take time with mods is the only upside. The more winter mods you do, the more quality time you get to spend with your bike in the winter!!

I need to winterize my garage so I can actually stand being out there in sub-zero temps. My spring project is to insulate and heat my main garage. I've had enough of freezing!!
