Here, the paint is expensive. The only way to keep the cost down is to find someone with low labor rates, but the quality of the finish worried me, so since I'm not familiar with painters in the area, I went with MOCO.
Had a local body shop do mine. PPG wanted 114.00 for a pint of Dark Blue Pearl, ordered a quart from dealer for 116.00. You can probably buy a used inner for less than 100.00 and do the job yourself ( installed ) in about 3-4 hrs if you take your time and mark everything as you remove it.
Anyone ever have experience with a painter matching 2011 'Sedona Orange'? I want my inner done on my RGC but have some speaker holes drilled in it and would like to salvage, but from what I gather this is pretty much impossable to match unless factory.
I am having my switches painted also... in black pearl. he is supposed to tape off the lights. so we shall see how they turn out. they were getting white and faded so i wasnt worried about them getting messed up i was gonna buy new ones other wise. ill post pics when i get it back... told the body shop no rush its FEB... whoda thunk it would be 55-60 degrees in OHIO... o well too much salt still on the roads
Any special additives need to be used on the paint? I'm having a local body shop paint mine, and I'm not sure they've done one before. Any special secrets they will need to know to make it work or is it pretty straight forward for them?
Just some FYI. Lake Shore lshd1 does not sell painted inner fairings online. Stated shipping problems, go figure? Surdyke does, about $550.00 I think....plus shipping.
