Before buying my RK all the time, but the shield and stock exhaust allows me to not get buffeted and my ears stay sane. During the full summer when I wear a half helmet and do super slab I have to, but pref to hear the heartbeat of the engine and you miss too much around you with them on. The loud exhaust from my previous bike made it necessary or I'd be done.

I don't find the noise/buffeting to be too bad. Maybe down the road sometime but not now.

I do when I'm wearing my half helmet, unless it's just around town. Got a set of custom molded ones.

After reading this, I might try to wear again. I have tried them from time to time but never long enough to get use to the difference in sound. The foam ones really knock out the noise/sound so much so I had trouble shifting ha ha. But like some have said, by the time you know you have a problem it will be too late.

Wear them 99.9% of the time. Interstingly some guys say they only wear them when they take their windshield off. I have always found that the windshield on my RK reflects a lot of noise at me. If I take the shield off, minimal engine/exhaust noise. Anyways, I wear ear plugs in town, around town, road trips. About the only time I don't is if I am putt'n around the neighborhood.

I probably wear them 60% of the time, but really should 100%. Its not the wind that is hurting your ears. It is the exhaust or muffler db. Any hearing loss is slow and not painful. And unfortunately the ears will never regenerate the loss.

I would have to disagree here, on my Heritage with Big Shots staggered, pipe noise was quite tolerable with the windshield on, with the windshield off, wind noise was killing me.

Indeed so. I've been using them since the 70s, when there was an excellent article in one of the bike mags about the dangers to our hearing.

They are also the best tuning aid known to man, by reducing stress due to noise when travelling at higher speeds.
