Almost always have somthing, but it's usually just some kleenex or paper towel off the work bench jammed in there.

Just enough to cut down the wind noise

Pardon me...I didn't catch that.

Between heredity, work & loud hobbies I now have constant tinnitus and hearing loss in both ears. No problems with normal conversation but add background noise, like typical bar chatter, and I have trouble. Because of that I now wear earplugs while riding about 90% of the time & aiming for 100!

Look at ear protection like preventative maintenance on your bike. You change your oil regularly rather than wait until it turns to sludge, right? I wish I had started 30 years ago. I suspect hearing aids are coming my way in the next decade!

I wear the ones from SureFire. Very inexpensive but they work great Even set to where they reduce the most noise I can still hear the radio. They are very light weight and I sometimes forget to take them out. The wind noise is what kills me. Without plugs at highway speed my ears with ring all day long.

I wear them mainly for wind noise when riding at highway speeds. They also help prevent the cold air from giving you an earache when riding in cooler temps.

Cutting out all that wind blast lets my ears distinguish other sounds.

The wind and exhaust noise really wore me out on long rides before I started to use ear plugs , Nowadays I've ear plugs every time I ride b/c they make the rides so much more relaxed and comfy.

If you are talking about my link, you are absolutely mistaken. I've tried all kinds of plugs, and these things are the best for sound blocking.
