It's 4 years old, and the old frame.

If it were me and price is close to equal, I would go new Rk. Waranty, new bike(your virgin) Cheaper insurance and easier to resell in the future. I dont think it's close. If you want a bike with "ego boost" go with the used SE

I at least tried to be tactful, but your statement is correct and is the "essence of communication".

I'm a 'latest & greatest' type, so going for the '12 would be a no brainer.

Something I'm sure you've considered, however, is the cost of upgrades to the newbie...

I have a good friend who bought a 08 Ultra SE and had nothing but trouble out of the motor. I would buy the 12 RK.

Another vote for new. Then you can customize it the way you want. Do you like the color of the CVO?

I bet the guys in the CVO forum(s) don't love their bikes any more or any less than us non-CVO guys love our bikes.

That being said, there is something to be said about having something that is new vs old. As much as I want a CVO, I think I'd rather have a new bike and make it my own.

Oh, I think CVO owners do love their bikes more than the non CVO owners. When I was a non CVO owner, I was always admiring the CVO bikes. Now that I'm a CVO owner you won't see me admiring a non CVO bike unless there's an obscene amount of mods put into it.

As for new vs used, as soon as you sign on the dotted line, your new bike becomes used.

Now suppose you have a financial emergency 6 months down the road and you have to sell your bike. The already depreciated used CVO will bring more of your original cost back to you then a '12 RKC. Of course I'm relying that the used CVO is in near excellent condition at time of sale.

BTW Other than color, a '12 RKC looks no different than a '09-'12 model yr RKC. The '08 SERK is exclusive.
