Harley Dealer Sold me 30 WT Fork Oil!
I'm changing out my fork lowers on a 2001 FLHTC and when I went to by replacement oil he recommended 30 wt! I told him that's way too heavy and if I ran over a "**** Ant" it would probably feel like I fell of a four inch curb! Then the mechanic walked in a confirmed that I should use 30 wt. So, I loaded it in my forks per specification (9.7 oz) each side. I haven't completed the job yet so I have not tried it out. But 30 wt in the forks..Damn! Does anyone run that in their forks.
What do you think???

Where did they get it? The Se Fork oil is 7.5 and SE heavy is 10wt. I would not waste the labor and dont assemble it with that oil IMO you will be changing it bak to a lighter oil.
I like a firm ride and usually swap out springs and oil early in the ownership of my bike and on all 4 of my HDs Ive used the SE Fork oil (7.5) and in 3 Ive changed to Progressive springs

i don't even think the se race is that heavy.
i use the se heavy, and i like the ride it gives me. i know a few folks who will mix the se heavy and the stock, 50/50, and like that ride. if you haven't dumped it in yet, i would take it back and get the se heavy.
unless of course, the service writer and the mech have no clue what they are talking about since hd does not mark the weight on the bottle, just type b, type e, se heavy, se race.....

I rode with 30 in my forks (Bel ray I think). I liked the way it handled. bumps were felt with the rear more then the front with 30 up front and progressive 440s in the rear. Put Ricors out back and the front then felt awful as the bumps were now noticeable in the front. Now have Ricor intimidators in front with 10 wt shock therapy and life is grand. Point is if you are running stock rear shocks I think 30 will make the bike feel sportier without brake dive. If you have a nice rear shock them the 30 with accentuate the awful stock front end.
