Unhappy alarms

I just bought a 08 Ultra Classic without a alarm I was told I could just buy a couple of pieces that would just plug in that the bike already had the loom. The last bike I rode was a 54 hardtail pan head. its been 20 years since I've been on a bike but retired now and a need to get back in the wind. Any help on this would help.

welcome to the forums,

get the free parts and accessories catalog from a dealer, you can see the options ( hide your wallet first).

Or you can see options on the website.

many of us with the "smart security system" use a radio shack $6 siren rather than the H-D siren ( $80).

there is also a pager type option available

send me your old Pan parts, click on my username/ public profile you should be able to see the vehicles "in my garage"- the '53 should put a smile on your face

You can buy the HD factory security system for your bike that lists for $329.95. You should be able to find it at a dealer that discounts parts or from another source for less money. It replaces the turn signal module and disables the ignition if the fob (the black round thing that goes on a key chain) is not within a few feet of the bike.

It will not make any sounds if the bike is disturbed unless you add a siren of some sort. The HD factory siren costs $89.95. Again, you should be able to find it for less. Some people install a small siren from Radio Shack. If you do a search on this forum you will find a number of posts discussing this subject.

The Radio Shack siren is less expensive, but the HD siren includes a back up battery that keeps sounding if the battery wire is cut. It also includes a paging option that allows you to purchase a pager that links with the siren and will go off if you are away from your bike and the alarm goes off. You'll need to decide which option most fits your needs and budget.

Hope this helps.
