Default Confused

1200 miles later and still don’t have the ride I want. I cured the bottoming out issue with the longer spacers, but I still have the mushy feeling in the curves, and honestly, I can’t tell any difference in overall ride quality from stock. Read previous posts in this thread for details. Now, the technician at Race tech is telling me that 5wt Aimsoil is way to light. Use 15wt he says. Is this good info or just more BS?

what bike, do you have the intiminators installed, and what springs, did you mod the intiminators?....

My information is based on our previous communications, so please correct me if something has changed; 09 EG Standard, you have unmodified Intiminators w/original 2X.012 + 1X .015 shim pack, you're 165 lbs using .90 kg springs. You have 2-3 Ohlins on the back. First off I don't recommend asking Race Tech for info about Ricor products and vice versa; RT Gold Valves and Ricor Intiminators are not the same thing, the 41mm Intiminators require Amsoil 5wt Shock Therapy, nothing else. I ran the calculator on RT for your weight and bike and I got .942kg, so to even get started in the right direction you either need to lose 25 lbs or get a set of .95kg springs. The "mushy" condition you are experiencing is more than likely related to your soft springs in conjunction with the Ricor "Bagger" tune soft shim pack. Just for the sake of this thread I want to clarify that you did not have poor results due to my modification. You didn't do the modification, you simply added the wrong rate springs to a set of Intiminators. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Are you using Race Tech Emulators or Ricor Intiminators?!

Thank you guys for the replies. In my previous post (#101) I was on the verge of doing some serious venting because I had just got off the phone with Race Tech and receiving the conflicting oil information and also sending them numerous emails questioning my spring rate with no response over a two week period. After waiting on hold for 30 minutes, I finally got to speak to a technician. He assured me that the spring rates are correct and that the oil is the problem.
My anger is or should be directed at Race Tech. I did not mean to imply that any of you are to blame. Sorry
Fabrik8r, you have a very good memory. I do have the unmodified Intiminators on an 09 EG with the .90 kg springs. At this point I am looking for a heavier spring from anyplace other than Race Tech. Any suggestions? They refused to take back the .90 springs also.

Man I know it sucks cause you already spent money on Springs, but listen to fabrik8r. He has this stuff worked out better than racetech or Ricor. Buy the right racetech springs for your weight, get your intiminators modified by fabrik8r, And you will love the new suspension. I would not vary from his tried and proven formula.

Sorry to hear you had an unfavorable experience with this project, don't let it discourage you. I wish I had a good memory, I keep a copy of all my old PMs, except for some that I accidentally deleted. Don't sweat this, lets figure out how to get you back on the road. Don't worry about the RT springs, you'll be able to sell them to someone for a small loss. I know its a pain in the *** dealing with a business that as already given you problems, but I would suggest calling RT back and just ask them if there is a reason why the online calculator recommends .942 but they sold you .90, and find out if there is a number on the springs to verify that the ones you have are actually .90kg. Traxxion has straight rate springs also, call them, and tell them your issue with the .90 and see if they can get you what you need. http://www.traxxion.com/ForkSpringKits.aspx . I'll do my best to give you good direction however you want to set yours up, but you won't get the results that I, and others got, without doing the whole mod and set up as described. Look on the bright side, your Ohlins are broke in.

I appreciate your vote of confidence, but truth be told, outside this specific set up, my suspension knowledge and experience is fairly limited, even a blind squirell finds a nut every once in a while.
