Anyone know the maximun torque on shifter lever allen bolts?
I have a torque wrench and the shifter lever bolt seems tight but the gap isn't fully closed around the splined shaft and there is slop in it. I am afraid of breaking off the bolt in the shifter and some people on the forum suggest really tightening it more. The existing gap might be 1/64" or maybe 1/32", I didn't measure. Same gap exists on the heel shifter that is tight to the shaft, no movement.
I do not know what grade that bolt is so I cannot use a chart to determine standard torque.

Just to make sure, check your bolt and make sure it is installed correctly. By that I mean the bolt comes up from the bottom of the shifter. I have seen people re-install their shifter bolt the wrong way and it will never tighten. If it's on right, then you might have to apply more torque to the bolt. The gap will never fully close.

Dont know the grade of the stock SHCS but you might be able to replace it with a grade 8 hex bolt to be able to tighten it a little more.
If you are torqing it to spec and it is still loose, the splines on the shift arm and or the shaft could be worn.
