I ride with motor officers with my local HOG group, and they all say to never buy a cop bike.
One told me that he wouldn't even buy the one that he was issued, even though he knew exactly how it was ridden and maintained.

Yes, I have heard that BS before. May even be true in southern states that ride year round.

Guess I got that 1 in a million bike. Northeast bike. Actually my first used bike that was not purchased new or built new by me, turns out to be my favorite bike. Go figure. :-)

You may want to think about what you want to do with the bike. 02's and later have the Delphi Fuel Injection which can accept most tuners. 01 injection systems were the MM system which are less accepting of modification. If you arent going to leave it as a stage 1, I'd say go for it. If you want a big bore, cams and the like wait for an '02 or later.

I agree the forged crank and timken bearings are a plus for the 01-02 twin cams.

Good luck and post some pics of which ever new scoot you get.

Well I passed on it, there was frame and brake problems with it. I did buy a 97 Heritage with about $5000 worth of chrome and accs.
