Default Speaker and amp question

I want to get the Rockford amp for my 2011 Limited. Do I have to cut wires or can I get a harness kit or something so it's plug and play other than the power and ground?
Also, was thinking of Polk vs. Hertz speakers. There's a big price difference. Is it worth the extra money or at highway speeds is it a wash?

I don't know about the Rockford amp. As far as the speakers are concerned, I have Hertz hsk-165 components in the fairing and Polk DXi6500 in the rear and there's definitely a difference. The Hertz speakers are much, much better.

I just installed this amp on my bike and you will either have to make jumper wires from the front Harley speaker wires to go to the input side of the amp or cut the ends off and wire them direct. then you must locate the rear speaker wires (color coded) and cut them at the front of the bike then wire them to the input side of the amp then use the other end of the wire that goes back to the speakers for the output of the amp. really very easy to do.
there is no P&P wire harness that I am aware of for the RF 300 to the HD system.
you will need (or should have) the HD wiring diagram for the 23 pin radio plug it makes it a lot easier.
Good luck.

I have Hertz Hcx 690 6x9's (Dragonfly Fairing), I have Polk db691 6x9's in the lids ( cycle sound).driven by an arc audio amp. Standing over the back of the bike and looking straight down the Hertz from the front drown out the Polk. The Hertz are hogs 5 lbs a piece. Not saying that the Polk are bad but they don't compare, thecycle sound system came with the lids, speakers, small amp (didn't use) small line driver (didn't use), if doing it agian I would have just bought the lids and grills and spent the money on another set of Hertz. I rode today to visit painter and I have no issues with crystal clear music at 80-90 mph.

MTGlide,
You are running component speakers front and rear? Where did you mount the tweeters?

Forum member 141 Starlifter (Scott) has manufactured wire harness and brackets for the Rockford Fosgate amp as power and speakers harness to make it a plug and play system. I installed that amp in eaarly September 2011 with two fairing speakers and two lower speakers using Scott's bracket and harness and it all worked great and I love the system I have to turn it down even at 90 mph. I truely can now enjoy my system. I installed 4 6.5" Focal CA65 speakers. PM me if you need more information. Scott was a pleasure to do business with and a real help.

I used adapters to put the 6.5" speakers in the fairing, I previously had installed the HogTunes tweeter pod. When I removed the tweeter pod, I reused the holes to mount the tweeters included with the speakers.

For the rear speakers, they fit into the existing pods after drilling some mounting holes in the existing pods. I made small angle brackets to hold the tweeters down between the seat and the tour pack.
