does anyone else have problems with oil leaking out of the crank case where the stator wires come thru ? have an 09 ultra that has always weept very slightly here, but of late it starting to leave a few drops or two on the floor of the garage ! is there an easy fix or do you have to put a new gromet/wiring/stator and wiring etc ???? oh and yes it gets ridin almost everyday .

Heard of a "customer satisfaction" recall on another forum. Replaced entire stator, wiring & grommet.

You have to remove the inner primary along with the compensator and stator to get to the wires that go through the case. The rubber grommet that has the wires running through it has been known to leak. You can try using some Hi-temp silicone sealer (use black) on the outside where the wires come through and this will usually stop the leak. Remember to let the sealer dry before using the bike.

If they wind up breaking into the primary to fix it, be sure to have them put the SE Comp in it.

Smokin's got it all wrong. You do not have to remove the inner primary. Needs to practice more of his sig quote before giving advice on things he's unfamiliar with.
Everything but the inner primary will have to be removed to replace the stator.

Been there, done that.

Just sayin'

My '08 started leaking at 35,000 miles. I sealed it from the outside with high temp black sealant about 3 months ago and it is still holding.

Before YOU pounce on someone else maybe YOU should read a service manual. The OP bike is an 09' and it clearly states in the manual for alternator removal to "remove the primary chain case housing". It goes on to say remove the stator in order to get at the grommet with needle nose pliers from the inside while pushing from the outside. There are pictures if you can't read.

You obviously haven't "been there, done that".
