Default SG Seat to hard

My stock street glide seat sucks. With my big butt I'm only good for about 45 mins. and have to get off.
Do I just buy a new seat and if so wich one?
Or do I send it off to Mean City Cycles to get it rebuilt. I'm cheap. But I will spend the cash to get something that works. (Need a two up.)

thanks
mike

Check out the Harley Sundowner seat. It's very comfortable and you should get many miles before butt burn. You can often find used ones on here in the classified section.

I hear MCC does nice work also.

Mike, what year is your X? The 2011 and newer bikes seemed to have a better seat. If you are on an 11 or 12, you may want to look at the SE X seat. Try to find somewhere that allows you to try different seats, they are pretty expensive.

I have the sundowner and I use it for 2 up, but I like my stock seat for 1 up riding.

Yep, I've got a 2011 SG and the seat is really comfortable.
I can ride all day without any discomfort.
Might want to check Ebay. I saw a couple 2011 seats on there going for around $150.

On that note does anyone know if the Brawler Solo seat is as comfortable as the stock SG seat.

Good luck, I've tried lots of seats and had several redone by three different seat people. Including Mean City Cycles.

My 07 streetglide seat used to chew my a$# up. I sent it to mean city cycles. Now the seat is the best for comfort I have ever had. Call them, their work will make a noticable difference.

Mike, not sure how big your big butt is. But my 295 lb. butt really likes the firm support that Corbin gives. Others may think it is too hard, but big butts sometimes like to bounce off the top of plastic seat pans which I have experieced with stock seats and a Mustang. Not good.

You need to research yourself. It will usually take a number of different seats before you find one that fits YOU. Everyone is different.

No, it's kinda hard and lacks that nice bumper at the back for "***-steering".

The seating position is lower and farther back which puts my hips at not a great angle.

I use the brawler a bit in town, 2010 SG seat for under 4 or 5 hour rides and Ultra seat for touring.

Mike
