Default Battery of The Future?

Just read a article in Rider Magazine on batteries. The future leans towards lithium based batteries. Much lighter and stronger they say. Has anyone had any experenices with lithium batteries?? Pretty expensive. eBay sells them for less than the dealers. Anyway, check out this web site that sells lithium batteries.

Its the direction batteries are taking from the dinosaur lead acid batteries. Lithium Ion is being seen more in electronics with good results. They will drop in price in time and I wouldn't jump on the bandwagon just yet. I will be watching this battery evolution with interest.

Not only is it pricey but you need to buy a new tender too. The regular tenders dont work with the lithium.

Father in Law bought one for his Goldwing 6 months ago. Super light, but to install, they had to shim it in place due to how small it is, not a big issue. So far no issues, but yesterday, I just bought a Deka for $97

Claimed advantages are not significant enough to offset the current pricing.

From the FAQ, Your statement isn't entirely true.
Q. Can I use Lead-Acid battery chargers or charger/tenders?

A.Yes. HOWEVER, you may NOT use a charger/tender if it has an automatic "desulfation mode", which cannot be turned off. We have confirmed with Deltran, makers of the "Battery Tender" brand, that their products do NOT have a desulfation mode, and are therefore OK for use with Shorai LFX, for example. But the best possible charger/tender for Shorai LFX is the SHO-BMS01, which will be released on about March 15th 2011, we expect. It uses the 5-pin BMS port in the LFX batteries, in order to monitor, diagnose, and balance the individual cells during charge. And it also has an optimized storage mode that will give the longest possible service life to your LFX.

I spewed coffee all over the table when I saw this. Lithium ferrous battery to reduce bike weight by about 6 lb. or skip the chili cheese burger with loaded fries and a beer and reduce weight by 6 lb....cant help it...still cracks me up...
I'll just stick with the AGM battery that came with it.....it will last longer than a lithium that has a limited number or charge cycles...
