Default Aftermarket radio question......

If I was to get an aftermarket radio say like a Pioneer for example...... When I install it would the hand controls on my street glide still work and be Ble to control the radio? What is the feedback from people who have installed aftermarket radios.

It will if you buy a kit that includes a handlebar control module. One of the more popular manufacturers is Biketronics.

The Biketronics module is the only one that I know of that allows you to retain AVC.

Also make sure you get a marine radio otherwise you can't see the display in the sunlight.

I bought a Sony radio and the biketronics kit. Great company to work with and looked fairly good, although it has an area around the radio that's filled with a plastic filler that could look better. I didn't use a marine radio and worked fine but i can see the advantage in doing so.

all you do like others have said is but the kit that allows you to use the controls for the handlebars! I have a alpine head unit! I will disagree Brick0044, I dont have a marine grade radio, and I can see the display just fine! You will love the upgrade! It is well worth it! Much better sounds than the stock radio!

I am running a JVC KD-AVX77 with a Hawg Wired DIN adapter and Hawg Wired handlebar control adapter. Works great...

I have a kenwood radio with the hawg wired kit. The hand controls work fine. If your concerned about the radio getting wet, get the face plate cover. Hawg wired and biketronics have covers that the respective kits
