Im going to disagree and go with LED's, they are as bright at 3 volts as they are at 12V. and they dont draw hardly any current and usually last forever.

I ripped out the Drag Specialties HIDs after the 3rd ballast failure - all covered under warranty but happened twice at night quite a ways from home. Didn't like cruising the rural highway scouting for critters with only the passing lamps.

LED's all the way!

Edit: btw, if you have a failure on the road with an LED, just go to the nearest auto parts store for an H4 and plug it back in. If you have an HID failure on the road, you might want to remove the ballast from the circuit before plugging a standard bulb back in (hopefully as easy as just pulling the relay from its socket) - wouldn't want an HID ballast charging with nowhere to discharge. Hopefully your installer left the stock plug on the OEM harness and used adapters to the HID.....

Had the HD HID kit on my bike for 2 years. Couldn't stand the way the bike looked from the front with bright blue headlamp and yellow spot lights, like so;

I have since gone over to the LED lights, all from Harley. Much better lighting than the HID all around.

I'm running the drag specialties kit. Well I should say I was running the drag specialties kit. Not a fan and I do not recommend. At first it worked fine then I lost my high. Waited 2 1/2 months for a replacement bulb bc that's what they told me went. Bulb came finally..... And the messed up the connections at the factory put a female connector where a male should be. They apologized and said it was a factory mistake and sent another bulb. Got the new bulb and found out it wasn't the bulb but the relay. Now I'm being told that I can't just buy the relay that I need to buy the whole harness. In the end I'm removing the kit from the sled today.......

Go to your dealer, or look in your parts book. HD has a plug&play garage door remote kit that uses your high beam switch to activate your garage door.
HD part number 91558-01a

That's awesome, going to have to keep my eyes open for one cheaper than $130 though!

Not to steal the thread but...Long story short...
Go to Home Depot and find a remote that will pair with your GD. Unless you have one to spare. Many are powered by a 12 volt battery. Open it up and find the switch contacts. Solder them together. Pull the battery out and wire it + to your high beam wire under the fairing, - to ground. Find a good spot to tywrap the remote under the fairing. If yours isn't powered by 12volts you need a small relay to operate the switch. Do a search. I know its in there somewhere...
