Default FYI Rear fender tip Light

Good morning and Happy New Year to all. I just purchased a Rear Fender Tip Light/ Aux. Brake light Part# 59685-10 on E Bay. Let me say now that I got one great deal on EBay shipped to my door $55.95 that just about half of what the dealer charges. It is everything the catalog says it is but the problem with it is it is not bright enough don't get me wrong is is better then nothing but it is for sure not worth the $94.95 they retail for in my opinion. I have my turn signals made into Turn/Brake/Running light in red maybe this is why they do not show up very well on mine man I would have upset if I would have paid full price. So using the forum for it original purpose I thought I would put the information out there and let the chips fall where thy may.

The blue comes on every time you hit the brake, or do you have a separate switch for the blue?

I have multi colored LEDs also, but I have them so the secondary color only comes on with a switch and I only use it in extreme cases of being tailgated. Using blue will get you a ticket at the least so it is better not to use it all the time. Red and Amber would be okay in most states.

I opened it up and there is the row of stock leds for run mounted on a circuit board. use a screwdriver to sepress the plastic tangs, pull the cover off, it is sealed run an exacto around the seal

you know those 'pods" of 6 leds in a oval plastic housing?

I had a bunch from an electronics surplus house ( about $3 each).

I removed the oval housing and hot glued the led assemblies to the board, red on the outsides, blue in the center, wired together in parallel, then ran the wiring up into the taillight housing and tapped into brake light power

"blue dot" shows better at night- it's right in the center

it's a fun project, but the custom dynamics seems to be a nice product off the shelf

Okay, blue dot. I thought you meant blue LEDs as in police type blue lights.
