New vs old frame w/brace??
#21
I had a 05 and 11. My 05 was a wobbler.
If you are not having the issue I wouldnt spend the money
on the brace but I would keep in mind that it occurs the
most at higher speeds, especially in long sweepers.
Funny thing my worst example turned into a mild tank
slapper at about 50mph in light rain. I think a slip
on a tar snake triggered it.

Just a side note here, the people who say they won't buy a device, are they of the same mindset that they don't wear helmets too?
another note here, one of my good buddies is now in a nursing home for the rest of his life thanks to the Harley Wobble. he has 7 kids, and was only 41 when he had his accident.

A brace will help with the looseness in the rear motor mount, but won't affect the inherent frame-flex. Overall the brace (RideStr8 in my case) helped, but wasn't a panacea, and if I were to buy another old-frame FLH I would add the Progressive Touring Link. They all work fundamentally the same and I doubt if one is functionally better than the other, but IMO the best designs use short bolts on the oil pan and no hardware on the dogbone.

The vast majority of HD riders are not pushing their bikes like you do.

I ride with a guy that has an 08 SG his wobbles when mine doesn't. Usually long fast sweeper turns with a bump or a dip. He has a brace and recently added the Sta Bo (I think, if not it was the product like that). He said the combination solved the wobble for him. He's an excellent rider and this is riding very aggressively. I've managed to make my 09 SG wobble once but I was turning pretty hard at about 100 when a dip caused me to hit the board mounts or frame hard enough to kick the back end up a couple of inches and over about two feet. This is according to the guy riding behind me. Bike went into a violent wobble and I was barely able to keep it upright and on the road. Sucked a big hole in the seat that day! I've slowed down a lot since then, no wobbles at all.

Some of the pre 09 frame owners are lucky, or I'm just unlucky.
Some older baggers wouldn't wobble for nothing or nobody,
and my RKC used to wobble just for looking at it wrong. Heck
you could sneak up behind it and yell boo and it would shake
in its tires, but it's all better now that my indy took good care of it

I've got an 06 road king, it has always been a great ride. If you hung it in a long sweeper tho and was pushing it, and hit a little dip or a bump, the back end would walk around a little, nothing dangerous mind you but it was definitely there, kinda like riding a galloping horse. When it had about 45,000 on it and was ready for new tires I thought I would try the elite 3's. At the same time I put a bagger brace on it, It isn't even the same bike, you'd have to ride it to believe it. A little more vibration at idle but nothing to worry about, (it's not a goldwing ya know) Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY!
Good luck, Stafford
