Smile HD Chrome Lower Legs

Put them on yesterday. They look great, and were no problem to put on my Street Glide. Didn't have to pull inner fairing as I thought before. Worth doing yourself. Just remember that each leg takes 11oz of fluid. I think the older bikes took 8.5oz

how in the world did you get them on & off without pulling the fairing?

Im thinking about doing this myself soon, and have been dreading it.
the area around the fork cap seems awfully tight, and difficult to get a wrench on the caps.

If you've got a trick to it--please share...

You can take them off by removing the 6mm bolt at the bottom of the fork sliders and then the clip above the seal at the top (when the legs slide down), then just use a slide hammer motion to get the lowers off.

"First jack the bike up. remove the wheel and fender. located on the side the each fork is a drain screw for the for oil. remove it and drain the forks. You will have to remove the covers over the forks at the top. remove the dust cover. under it you will find a clip which holds the seal in. remove it. At the bottom of the each leg, inside, ther is a allen bolt. Remove it and the lower leg will slide off the upper leg. Slide the new seal on the upper leg with washer and put the rest together in reverse order and install the fork oil through the top cap."

Got that from google search.

He speaks the truth, and you will be glad you left the forks in the trees when you try to get the 6mm bolt loosened. Just be careful to not pull you bike off the jack.

That's cool but you should've went with Progressive Monotubes, and dumped those stupid springs.
.I mean you're going to that length, right? No more surge... FWIW...
