The correct height is dependent on the riders height and body type. You may have a long torso and short legs or long legs and a short torso and so on. The best way to figure the size is to sit on your bike in a normal riding position (not straight up and down) and have a helper get at eye level with you and measure from the top of the fairing to the bridge of your nose. this will give you the optimal height if you want to look over the shield.
Another tip for you is if you plan on a seat change, do it first, I made that mistake, and needed to change the shield again after my seat change.
Good luck with your choice.

i went with the HD windsplitter. tried a klockwerks and the curve to the windshield really disstorted my view very badly. i reamoved it asap ! the HD windsplitter helped with the buffeting but i still get some. i compromised between looks/style for the street glide verses total protection.kinda a crap shoot unless you can try a few out.oh yea by the way i am 6'1" tall if that matters.

+1 on the Klock 6.5 Flare. I think kt really looks good on the SG and takes most of the wind off. Hard for me to compare as I just came off 8 years on a Heritage with a "billboard" that I had to look thru instead over since I am only 5'8ish.
Agree with advice to change your seat first if you're gonna.
