The newer truck tailgates are aluminum and not as strong as my previous trucks. I'd put the bike in the truck on a 3/4 sheet of plywood, or a 2x10, so the rear wheel weight is distributed. Also less stress on the tail gate cables.
6ft beds? I figured all you bad *** Harley owners would have a REAL truck....like I do! 2003 F350 Powerstroke diesel with an EIGHT FOOT BED. I can put the RG in there and even close the tail gate! ;-)
I thought you said real truck, then you stated you have a FORD diesel. But I do like the 8ft bed trucks. My current one is a 2020 RAM 3500 Tradesman Cummins dually. It doesn't breathe hard towing 25K equipment trailers.
There's no way any big twin will inside a 6.6 pickup truck bed and close the tailgate.
