Street Glide or Electra Glide
#72
I just sold a 2004 flhtc that was stripped to look like the SG. Now I am hunting for a 2010-2011 SG or another Electraglide. I buying used so what ever I can find the best deal on is going to work for me ..... I have had a bunch of bikes so I tend not to fall in love when I see one which is a good thing.

I was gonna say try a Road Glide out before buying, but congrats on the Street Glide!
I had a 2009 Ultra, and "downsized" to a Road Glide Custom. Really the same thing as an SG, just a fixed fairing!
Love it, and did the quick detach set up with a tour pack.
After 3+ years and 32,000 miles, I found that other than the cruise, and the tour pack, I didn't really need some of the Ultra extras.
Well, I did buy lowers for the new ride, but that is more due to the different way the air flows around my fairing vs yours.
I took them off my Ultra, and only put them back on for the winters.
Congrats, and enjoy! Touring bikes, any of em, are the way to go!

Love my Sg flhx
I am about to trade in my low rider for eithtreetoptreet glide or electra glide.
I rode a friend's street glide this weekend and loved it. Was much more nimble than I thought it would be.
I wanted to get some opinions on the right model.
I like to have a stripped down bike for local rides - exactly like the street glide, and I love that it is lowered a bit. Most of my riding will be day long local.
But for long touring, would like to add a tour pack. I feel the lower fairing pieces are less important, as is CB and rear speakers.
But wanted to get opinions - have a few ways to go:
1. Buy street glide and later add tour pack (detachable)
2. Buy Electra Glide classic to get tour pack- but change it to removable brackets, and get lowered suspension (they make brackets apparently).
3. Go all the way and buy ultra classic to get all the goodies - and modify as per #2. But It is quite a bit more money - generally haven't wanted the CB, lowers etc.
Let me know your experiences on value of the various goodies that come with each model?
Would appreciate input to help me make a good choice. Thanks.
