Just got a pair these in the mail today.
http://www.chilhowee.net/motorcycle-.../GL-DM004.html
Rode some with them this afternoon, very good glove, but not a good test since it was only 60 degrees here.
I'll let you know how they work down in the 40's and 30's next week.

Just go buy a pair of welders gloves. If they can keep
the fire from burning you, they can keep the cold from
freezing you.

I Use a pair of Hipora Thinsulate lined leather gloves by River Road (made in Pakistan), inexpensive ( I think I paid ~$35). Water resistance but I treated them with waterproof spray once a year. Rode through heavy rain as well as 40 degree, no problem. Has a small squeegee on left index finger to wipe off rain/mist on helmet face shield.

Don't really ride below 40, and my hands never felt cold with these on. I'm happy with them.

I have used these ski/snowboard gloves (Dakine Scout) many times last year in 30-40 degree weather (on the bike) and of course on the slopes from 0-40 for several years. Actually on my second pair of Dakines These work great - flexble, have inner liners. http://www.zappos.com/dakine-scout-glove-black $45

Your best bet is to go to a motorcycle shop that carries gloves and try them on. I have very big hands with short fingers (kind of like paws) and i finally found a pair of olympias that fit and if it's real cold I put on a pair of silk glove liners and my hands stay warm. The liners are amazing how much of a difference they make and don't take up room.

Don't know if you have a Cyclegear near you but they have the new line of "BILT" products...i just bought a pair of fabric (Nylon) gauntlet gloves for $20 and they are probably the warmest gloves i a have ever owned....Mind you they are not the best made gloves i have ever had but they are the warmest....
My suggestion is a snowmobile glove from "Arctiva" or "Motofist"... Mittens are the warmest by far....Not very convenient if you need to use the fingertips....

I use a pair of gloves my dad got from Cabela's for a hunt in Alaska. They weren't warm enough for that, but keep me comfortable down to 20*. They are gor-tex and thinsulate semi-gauntlet, and since they are made for hunting the insulation is on the back, the palm side is pretty slim so you can feel the controls.
