I live in NW Ohio there is a ton of bike in this area but there in not one savage yard within a 6 hr drive in any giving direction do you think an all Harley savage yard would work? We would do local sales as well as Internet sales. My biggest concern is when a part goes out I think 95% replace with aftermarket the other 5% goes right to the dealer.

I would go with Ebay or craigslist.

I dont think there is enough money in it. There is one in the Portland area, but it is a division of the largest dealer in the Portland area. Most of their inventory is thefe at little to no cost to them (dealer replaced parts the owner didnt want).

That said, i have purchased from them. There is a market for it.

Latus Motors Salvage. They are near I-5 and Marine drive. Pretty cool place.

There was/is one in Massillon, Ohio, about 2 hours from Toledo, close to the RT 21 & RT 30 cloverleaf.

They do most of their selling on EBAY. Can't remember the name, since I moved out west.

there was a place in deleware ohio.. not to far from me
cycle search was the name..
the ended up getting out of the salvage bikes and parts and now under the name independent motorsports , located on rt 23.. they sell used bikes and new parts and accessories

i have only purchased from them like 2 times if that when they were cycle search. i needed a part asap and they were the only ones that had something on hand.. it was a used throttle housing for a cbr 900rr.
i paid way more than i wanted, but i had to have it NOW.

generally youll be able to get better deals buying off an individual on ebay or craigslist.

when shopping for replacement parts for any bike on ebay, the "dealers" are usually priced alot higher than the individuals selling parts.

and there is alot of people out there selling stuff.

a local store front could net you some business, but with ebay, craigslist, and other outlets i dont think you would have enough traffic through a store front or online to generate enough profit.

everyone wants to sell parts now, so its very tough competition.
