A friend of mine has a center stand, looks great when cleaning the bike, but looks like a monkey doing a football at the gas station when in use, I'm going to pass after seeing this action time after time!
Just personal preference.
LOL
I only use mine when cleaning it, parking in a tight area, or sticking it in the back corner of the garage.
I keep mine adjusted for easy use with tires still touching ground. Allows me to ride off it also, and I can get it down while on the bike (although a little tricky). I just cut a piece of 1/2 inch plywood I use under it while cleaning if I want to get tire off ground.
This is no contest .... the Wheeldock EZ-Up Center Stand is, by far, the easiest to use and to install stand on the market. Watch the video on their site ... it works just that easy .... and it damn near installs itself .... while there is minimal loss of ground clearance ( I'm 6'2 -265 and my better half is .. well, better than half ) we rode hard throughout NC this past summer and didn't have any issues with draggin' ( even on the Dragon and the Cherohala at way faster than posted speeds ) I had the HD stand and removed it 'cuz it was too damn hard to get it up! ( no pun intended )
Ditto to all comments- have EZ Up stand 3 years. Need to be careful when first using. I needed to shift weight on right side of my road king so not to tip bike over left when putting up on stand. Need to get use to it. I have no experience with the HD stand.
I had a Rivco, a lot like the HD stand, worked great. Also had the wheeldock, didn't like the big arm sticking out...but that's just me....
All work great.
I learned a long time ago (the hard way...) that centerstands are really only for garage use. Any slope or non-concrete or non-smooth surface is bad. Great for the garage, especially with limited space and when cleaning or working on bike.
