Default shock lengths

so im looking to get rid of the air ride on my electra glide ultra classic, i see a variety of options and the streetglide units run 12" and im assuming they are compatable w my bike. is this true and would it lower or raise my bike any?

your bike has a 13" shock, street glide is 12", yes it would lower it. looks better lower, but you loose 1" of travel which in some cases make them little on the bumpy side.

the street glide shocks are about 1" drop ( really .75")

the drop is taken from the shock travel, so instead of a 3" travel, the shock has 2.25" travel--- translates to a slightly harsher ride.

the 09+ version are "revalved for smoother ride" from the earlier version.

I have them on my 2009 EG Classic and they are fine.

I put the stock stocks on when touring, swap over takes maybe 20 minutes.

They would lower your bike. Stock height on an ultra is 13 something. Don't know the exact measurement. my Street glide shocks are 12"

Don't do it ! stick to a 13" shock, if you put HDs 12" SG shock (or any aftermarket) on not only will you lower your bike but you'll also lower your spinal column another 1". I put Ricors on so I don't have to keep messing with the air pressure and went to 13" on my SG. If you put a lowering bracket on you will also stiffen up the rear to much. It depends if you use your bike for distance or shorter rides. If you have a shorter inseam try a lower seat. IMO

If you use a lowering bracket like "LAC" it wont affect the ride. Same shocks, same shock angle, same travel.

The dealer highly reccomended sg shocks and not the lowering brackets. Any opinions ? I just want it for looks but I also dont want a harsh ride. I like to ride on long trips as well.

I put a set of LAC lowering blocks on my Ultra and have tire clearance issues when riding two up. I just got in a set of Burly Slammer shocks. Im hoping that will solve my problem. I have had my seat reworked as well. If this doesn't work I will have to consider a different bike :-(
