Default painted & vented lowers or desert dawgs

I kinda thinking of getting some kind of lowers for the colder weather for my RK. Do you think the painted/vented lowers are better than just getting a set of desert dawgs. I know the painted lowers are about 3-4 times more than the dawgs, but i kinda like the H-D's better. Are the H-D's alot harder to install and remove, I know I can leave them on all year.

Try the desert dawgs first, if you don't like them resell them here and get the HD vented lowers.

Agree with bgd, i have the soft lowers on my king and love em!! I take em off with any temps above 60. These are cheaper than the hard lowers and as mentioned can be taken off in warmer temps to help with the cooling of the motor, plus the hard lowers just look out of place IMO.

The engine actually runs cooler with the HD vented lowers. They direct more air directly across the engine.

Gotcha, my statement was referring to the soft lowers, not the "bulky" vented lowers u speak of!!

I have the "desert dogs" on my FLHTPI, they were short money. I would recommend them to anyone.

If you ride in the rain, especially during the winter months, you'll appreciate the hard lowers.

Soft lowers on my RK, would not be without them, when temps hit about 65 they come off.
