Question New Ness AC dripping oil...

I recently installed an Arlen Ness Big Sucker back plate and filter on my 2012 Ultra. After a short 30 mile ride, I removed the filter and noticed oil sitting in the bottom of the filter.

I re-installed the stock system, road 30 miles, and then checked for oil once more...none found.

I repeated the process after re-installing the Ness system and got the same drops of oil in the bottom of the filter.

Any idea as to why I'm getting the oil with the Ness system?

FWIW, I am familiar with the oil blow by issue from my days with the TC96. I've had this 103 since new and watched closely for blow by but never found except with the installation of the Ness system.

I know the Ness web site suggests the Big Sucker will not fit but after talking directly with Ness, they advised why they make that disclaimer and their system would fit my stock 103 just fine.

TIA!

Newly installed oiled filters like a K&N sometimes drip oil at the beginning but stop afterwards. The oil warms up & runs to the bottom. If the oil is a reddish tint that might be it. Fold up some paper towell, stick at the bottom & hold it on w/ a rubber band. That will keep it from getting messy until it runs its course.

Thanks for the reply.

The oil is coming from the breather tubes as it's running down from them and collecting at the bottom of the filter.

I've sent a note to AN but don't expect a reply over the holidays.

Nope, I had/have the same issue with my AN BS. You can see the oil trail from the so called raised ridges that are supposed to direct the blow-by oil into the mouth of the throttle body. The trail ended at the bottom of the backing plate, ready to drip into the filter. I'm running about 3 1/2 qts of oil, so I don't think it's overfilled. I guess it doesn't matter what make filter you run, if it's going to drip, it's going to drip.....

It's something to do with the increased amount of air flow.mine still does that 12000 miles later. And when I install stock no oil drips or collects in breather

This is what I did to my SE back plate to solve the oil drip problem:
