Vibration due to new motor mounts

Getting a little off topic, number one rule to resolving problems, look at the last thing you messed with. Op didn't have excessive vibe before the new motor mount, so it's probably not the flywheel. You don't have to baby these bikes, but you can cause the pressed flywheel halves to shift,(scissor) never heard of it due to lugging, usually from downshifting at high RPM and forcing agressive engine braking.

Just passing along what I was told. The guys at the shop I utilize(indy) have dealt with these a lot longer than I had imagined and it usually showed severe after a mount that was bad got changed in their shop. I had mine checked after our trip to CO last spring, a lot of engine braking as well hard steady pulls with myself and the wife on. Best we could calculate the bike was over HD's recommend by at least 100 pounds so took the chance during service to check but not a issue.
Seems to be random and not any particular bike type or size, just shows up, it was the shop's take the lugging 'could' have caused it but who knows it was just broken on the other bikes. Just another inspection point if all else shows no issue.

What you are experiencing with the new motor mount is real. Many of us have felt the same increased vibration with the new design. It's way too hard! I have tried a few different mount and have settled on Glide-Pro. It's not as smooth as the old 79B mount that came off your bike but it's better than the new one you currently are riding with.
If you want the HD equivalent to the old 79B you can order a Buell front motor mount which is exactly the same. I can't remember the part # off hand but if you do a search you may be able to get the # from one of my old posts.

Took my 2002 Road King classic in for the 35K service. The dealer called to say I needed a new motor mount. Picked the bike up and road it home. It now vibrates very badly. The dealer said that the new motor mount is a lot stiffer than the old ones. I mean it vibrates so badly that noise is coming from the pipes shaking. Took it back to the dealer. They said everything was in the tolerances, but with a new motor mount it should vibrate a little. A little vibration would be ok. I have a lot of vibration, which is not ok. Any idea?

Thanks
The bike was vibrating so bad I had it towed to the dealer. For a couple of days the service dept. insisted everything was in spec. Finally they replaced the motor mount with an 'old school' motor mount and the vibration (or lack thereof) is gone. Apparently this happens every time they swap the old motor mount for the new one. Why they keep doing this is beyond me.
Thanks to everyone for their help!
