Default Tour Pac Speaker ?

Just bought a set of rear speakers to add to my detachable tour pac on my SG. Question is , when I have the dealer flash my radio to accept the rear speakers and I decide to remove the tour pac later , will the radio work properly with just 2 speakers ?

The two fairing speakers will work fine w/o the TP on the bike. The dealer flash is to turn "on" the HK radio's fader control; the radio's rear speaker pin-outs are "live" when installed on the bike from the factory--they just need to be hooked-up to some speakers; you can have rear speakers working w/o the dealer flash.

When I remove my tour pac I turn the rear speakers off with the fader control on the radio. I dont know if it makes a difference or not.

So you do not need the dealer "flash" to make speakers work ?

Great to hear. Another reason not to trust the stealers when they try to sell you something.

If I read Harleypingman's post correctly though...yeah the rear works without the flash but you need the flash if you want to be able to fade from front to rear...and I always fade to front only when I remove my tourpack, might not make a difference but I feel better.

All of the HD accessories for adding speakers (tour pak speakers, speakers in the lowers, etc.) include a dealer flash as part of the installation instructions. Although unstated, the flash is almost always to turn on the fader control--a very handy feature.

I don't know what you were told or by whom at the dealer, but seeing that the flash is in the installation instructions for the tour pak speaker accessory, I wouldn't conclude that there was any intention to be dishonest.

I misunderstood what you meant by the sound of the responses. I thought it would work as it was intended without the "flash" . Now as I understand it will work but will not enable the fader control without the flash. My bad. Thanks for the correction
