I changed the rear tail light to a street glide bullet turn signal and put a Rear Fender Fascia skirt filler panel 59739-09. If you want a pic of the rear, I can post it. Let me know what you think? Look at my Avatar. Thats my other Ultra Classic 2007. The bottom one is the ultra classic limited 2011.
I leave mine off around town, and put it back on if I'm going to be on the road for more than a couple days. I'd love to see a picture of your fender. The license plate bracket that came with the kit has to go.

Like a lot of things, to each his own. I had the detachable tour-pak on my '08 Road Glide and could definitely notice the difference in how the bike felt with it off and with it on. But the reality was that it was such a handy accessory that I left it on 90 percent of the time. So now that I have an Ultra Classic, I have not seriously entertained the thought of converting it to detachable. That's a fairly expensive process, and I'm quite content to just leave it on permanently.

when I traded my 02 in it had over 65,000 mi. If I had to guess I would say the tp only had about 5,000. that was one of the first things I did to my 12, Limited, just a much more enjoyable ride in my opinion

I leave mine off most of the time around town. I actually think it handles better with the tour-pak on...it feels balanced better but, it is heavier. In my opinion you have 2-bikes in one with the removable tour-pak so...why not?
