54635-09 are Low Profile shocks. They are capped when off the bike to prevent the dampening oil from dripping out. They are 12.25", ( vs 13" stock on Touring, except FLHX. which comes with the lowered shocks.)

these are often called "12's" but in fact they are 12.25"

standing height generally refers to height with weight on it ( like a bike and rider)---standing height is much the same as unladen height.

capped? don't understand- like the 13's these use air lines to change pressure which affect dampening and rebound- to compensate for laden weight such as passenger camping gear, luggage.
If the air pressure changes height at all it is minimal.

as described above, I run these on my 09.

are you trying to figure out a custom application?

Yes.

Later today I will measure these and post it here, if their still available, which they probably will be.

If their only 1/4 taller than my stock Dyna ones, I can live with that. If they feel like the 09 Electra Glide I rented in Hawaii, I gotta get them!

I appreciate all the help and input and thanks to all for being patient with me and answering questions. I will post the measurement later.

if you do a search there are serveral good threads about changing the oil in the air shocks to help ajust the ride.

Are they the 54635-09?

I'm heading over there in a few minutes and check them out again.

i don't understand the fixation on exact length. you have 2 choices when it comes to hd air shocks, 12 inch, or 13 inch. the shocks may or may not be those exact lengths, but that is what they are spec'ed at, marketed as, and sold as.... and i'm sure that all the 12 inch shocks are the same size, and all the 13s are the same as well....

I do not want to raise the rear of my bike anymore than what the stock height is now, that is 12" as she sets stock.
Shock length for Low Profile Shock, P/N 54635-09 is 13"! Not the 12 or the 12.25 that has been posted elsewhere. Appearently with the model change also came the shock change, a Low Profile is also a 13" shock in 09 and later. This likely tells me that when they changed the frame in 09, the shock mounts also changed to a different angle in a longer shock to be called Low Profile. Or some other explanation there of. I seriously doubt that if I were to install this shock, the weight of the bike once settled, would barely change ride height of the new shock, if any at all.

In there lies some of the problem, their not spec'ed at all... I now believe a 12 is a 12 and a 13 is a 13. For 09, a 13 is now a Low Profile shock.
