Pauly3, Hawg-wired, Arc, and Hogtunes all provide installation instructions that include using Velcro to secure the amp to the head unit. Frankly, I don't believe there is any requirement for a bracket to mount only the amp. I've also talked to Tony at Iron Cross Audio about mounting the RF PBR300X4 on the HK head unit and he says there is no problem in doing so provided the amp is zip-tied to the HK.

An important feature of the bracket Scott offers (ezzell@comcast.net) is that it provides an easy and secure way to mount HD's modules (e.g. CB, XM, Ipod) under the head unit with an RF amp (or ARC for example) above the HK. At ~$50, I believe his bracket is excellent value for those with Ultras (CB module) or others with modules that are best located below the head unit when an in-fairing amp is installed. I haven't checked to see if Baggernation offers a bracket to relocate HD modules.

I've used the Hogtunes first generation amp; the Arc 125.2, and the RF PBBR300X4. I've installed two of the RF PBR300x4 amps on top of the HK radio and will receive a prototype bracket from Scott to locate the CB and Ipod modules below the HK head unit. It's part of an audio project to increase my current system of speakers in the fairing and CVO SG vented fairing speaker boxes, to include HD speaker lids (w/ RF T1682 6x8 speakers), and Polk DXi 6.5" speakers in Tour Pak speaker pods.

I have been using velcro for my Hawgwired amp since 2007, over 50k miles and 2 bikes no problem at all. I plan to change my head unit is why I'm thinking about a bracket, plus I'll probably go with 4 channels, so that means I'll change amps. BTW does anybody know if it's possible to fit an ARC KS 125.4 in a sharknose fairing, and if so how and where, I know the RF will easily fit, but I'm thinking about the ARC also, I may have to start a thread on that.

Pauly3 nice install, looks really clean.

Bagger Nation would not sell me the bracket or the wiring harness. I ended up buying a bracket and amp from a guy who visits this forum. Excellent customer service, extremely fast shipping, and a great price.

I guess you have to read the fine print. Here is direct cut and paste from baggernation.com. You have to buy the amp from them then they'll sell you the bracket. I like BN, but their prices can get goofy. When they first came out with their "OE Supreme" kit (minus the wires and brackets they currently offer, just speakers, amp, and adapter rings) their kit was more expensive than buying each component from them. When I called them and questioned it I basically got "Oh........" for an answer. On a side note, the new deck they are making for Road Glides looks pretty sweet.

While it's true that Hawg-Wired and HogTunes both tell you to use velcro to secure the amp, Tony at Iron Cross absolutely DOES NOT say there is no problem in doing so. He actually recommended I use a bracket of some sort, and told me that if I couldn't use a bracket, to at least zip tie the amp to the stereo after fastening with velcro to insure the amp and stereo vibrate as one unit. Vibration damage is the #1 cause for failure in these HK head units.

Rocketman69,

Thanks for reminding me of Tony's comments and clarifying my earlier post regarding what Tony at ICA has said about mounting amps on top of the HK radio--I should have said that he also recommends zip-tying the amp to the head unit if no bracket is used. I will edit my earlier post to include zip-tying the amp to the head unit.

I had a conversation with Tony when I discussed mounting two RF PBR300x4 amps on top of the HK head unit and my plans to use Velcro pads to secure the amp to the HK; previously I had used a bracket from Scott (ezzell141@comcast.net) when installing a single RF amp to the head unit and mounting a CB module below the HK radio. In addition to using Velcro pads to mount the amps, he recommended zip-tying them to the HK.

AGAIN Hogetunes sells brackets they include wiring harness which I did not need , they retail for $37 but you can buy them for less , dbell66253 for Roadglides they have 2 different brackets you can use , 1 that fits on the side by your glove box and 1 that bolts to the front bolts that hold your inner fairing on , I bought 2 of the fairing bolt models , I mounted my amp on 1 , flipped the other one around and ran it on the opposite side and mounted my HID light ballasts on it , batwing bracket F/24.2 , Roadglide brackets RG40.4 or Ultrasound bracket
