Who has lowered their bike???

I have 11.5 inch shocks in the rear and progressive monotubes -2 up front, bike rides great solo, I weigh close to 200lbs, if I ride anybody over 150lbs I tend to bottom out on big bumps, but I almost never ride anybody, (only 3 times in 2 years), and if you do the shocks instead of lowering blocks your rear wheel will not hit the fender or wire, and my front has never bottomed out or hit anything.

I lowered the rear to 11.50" with bitchin bagger shocks. I initially lowered the front as well with progressive drop in springs. The ride up front was a bit harsh and the bike stood up too straight on the kickstand. So I kept the rear lowered and put the front back to stock. Feels and rides great!

I suppose it depends on what kind of riding you do - if it's touring then don't do it, the ride SUCKS. If it's for show, ride quality is less important.
I had my '10 Limited lowered 1" front and rear on delivery, suffered through the first season, put Ohlins on the back (thanks, Howard) for this past season, and just got done raising it back to stock. I rode 34,000 miles this year and even though I'm 5'9" with a 28" inseam, I'll deal with the height issue rather than suffer the constant bottoming-out of a fully loaded touring bike.

We usually ride 2-up and decided to go with the longer EG/RG shocks for a softer ride and better cornering clearance (right side compromised with the V&H Dresser Duals vs. stock). Takeoffs were only about $120 shipped on eBay vs. $400 aftermarket.
Easy to switch do but insignificant difference in looks to ever want to go back.

Oh yea... i forgot to add. I didn't lower my rear. It sits at 12" stock anyway. I lowered the front 2.5 with the progressive drop ins. I have no issues at all. Just recently switched over to the 21" front end and no ride difference. Only problem with lowering the front with the stock rim was the same as someone else said. It stood straight up on the stand which is scary . I put the 1" Shorter Arlen Ness Jiffy Stand. It sucks. No shorter at all. If anything i thnk that lowering the front like i did made the bike more reactive. I don't have bottoming out issues personally. It corners and leans at low speeds like a beast. Love it myself.
Oh yea... I know it doesn't look it but there is 5+ inches of travel in the frnt end available. It isn't going to hit the front fender unless i have a major issue.
