Default Riding to a different tune these days....

Have a nice stereo and upgraded speakers on the bike.

Got a really nice bracket setup for the Ipod.

About 6 weeks ago I was annoyed by a particular song and just turned the radio off instead of changing channels.

Funny thing is it hasn't been turned back on since.

Have ridden plenty of times since but find that I enjoy the sound of the engine and surrounding traffic without the extra sound of tunes from the radio.

Had forgotten what a good time it was to just think about things while riding without the distraction of the radio or ipod.

Who else has unplugged and is enjoying the less is more experience when it comes to 2 wheel audio?

I use the radio mostly when cleaning the bike. The motor noise is my music when I'm rolling.

I love my music, but I sometimes like to ride without it, nice to hear the engine and enjoy the sites without anytrhing else.

I agree! Although I've actually never "unplugged", I've never been plugged in to begin with. I do listen occasionally when putting around town, but when I'm on a real ride listening to the radio is the farthest thing from my mind.

I even wrote a thread a while back asking the same question. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...nt-get-it.html From the responses presented in that thread, we seem to definitely be in the minority on this one.

I like the tunes around town, but when I'm riding out in the two lane country roads, I'll turn it off.

I am about 50/50. I did about 200 miles yesterday and found that I can't take the music for too long. Like you said, sometimes I just want to ride and think.

Only listen on short trips, running errands. Never on a ride of any length.

For me it's usually on the longer trips that I really enjoy having the ability to have my music or talking to my wife on her bike via the cb's on our bikes.
