I agree with the LED lights costing too much.
What I did was to buy a clear tail light lens from J&P and just put a red LED bulb in the socket.
It cost a lot less. Only around $30 and looks Great.
I ordered the lens at Laughlin River Run. J&P has a tent and offered 10% discount with free shipping.
Here is a lay down lens for '03/later.
Here is for the earlier models.

I have no regrets on the Bright Assed light purchase, I'd rather spend my money on that than a shiny bit of chrome that as no other function.
