The one thing that keeps me from getting one is the crank.

It really needs a plugged, welded and trued crank...at least in my opinion.

Really happy to hear they did the Lefty bearing kit on the crank...I wonder what kind of cam bearings it has?

Oh...the possibilities.

I think the Andrews 54 or the likes would be the perfect set up for a heavy bagger in the 120R. I wouldnt be concerned with the crank on this engine for a daily driver. It has a super tight press on it that is designed to withstand hole shots and hard launches over and over again. On another note, Traveler, I was hoping you'd chime in on my P&P throttle body thread. My buddy is the guy that bought your old one and he is doing his own work on it. It's coming along very nicely! We'll be doing several builds this winter and probably with P&P throttle bodies.

Theres a lot of them out there now with the stock crank and no issues. The only issues I've heard/read about is a few with lifters going bad. I originally had the same concern and thats one ofr the reasons I went the R+R 131 , and cause when I get used to it and want more power, I think it's a stronger platform for future upgrades. But they are pricey.
That 120 is a great deal even if you split the cases and do the crank.

Agreed, but a little more that 2-4hp but as you know, the power comes on so fast that your not worrying about being in the tq zone. doing it again, I would leave the 266's in (who am I kidding, I would have screwed around anyway and changed "something"!!

"T-Man 662-1 will move it to the left nicely HPI 55mm w/5.3 injectors will get you where you need to be. "

That is the set up I have (see sig below, I have the 58mm HPI not 55mm) and am happy as hell
Standard Dyno Chart, corrected is a little lower, 124/130ish, cant find the sheet right now but you guys get the idea

That looks good. I am surprised with head work you didn't touch the 130/130 to 135/135 range?? What tuner you running?? TTS, Autotune??

We could have gotten more out of it but my build goal was to ride anywhere on any gas. We do a lot of touring and wanted a motor that I would not have to worry about. I am only at 190ccp and compression is 10.3. We used a TTS, closed loop. This motor build was one of the 1st public builds, we got this motor when they 1st came out and did not have any data points to compare. Now, there are lots of 120r's running around and of the one's I know of have had no issues. My builder has over 15K mi's on his and he does not ride gentle! There are some great threads over on V-Twinfourm.com on the 120r if anyone is interested in more info on this great motor.

Seriously? 255's are junk in my 103 let alone a real motor....(dont even think or start the it aint tuned right crap)....its not even practical! Mine are going AWAY....SOON!! they suck!

Anyone who is remotely performance minded and wants to twist the throttle will not be happy with 255's because they are dead at 4K...IMHO....For a person who rides two up or drives like grandpa and twists it to 4k and is happy with it than there ok..... And to spend the cash to get a 120 and then put a 255 in? PPPAALLLLEEEAAAASE! Its not even in the realm......JMHO....

The 255's proly don't have enough duration to get a 120 past 3k RPM..LOL
Has anybody put anything like a Tman 590 or something similar in a 120r?
I like to beat my 120r, but I also like to cruise down the highway.
I would like to see a dyno sheet of a Tman 590 cams.
I like torque, and a little smaller cam might be a little easier on the valve train too.

Sounds like your happy with it. Should run just fine. The HTT forum has good info on the 120 as well. I will do some snooping around on your suggestion as well. Thanks.
