As far as who...I don't remember the name, but there is a chick in the Knoxville area that has a perfect backrest for my bike. Dual cushions.

H D non adjustable,
I ended up bending it about 5 degrees...it's real good now..
Only problem with leather is sweating on summer days.
I may make my own with a mesh cover

So HarleyCharlie got me to laughing then thinking about how old Dolly is looking these days (even though still plenty there for a backrest), then I saw Ybnorml's wonderful profile and thumbnails, and I must say I became distracted for a while, pondering the magnificence of contour theory.

Then I snapped back and for some reason started thinking about backrests again.

My advice would be, as previously stated, don't invest money in a backrest that has to go with a seat that you may not be very comfy sitting on for a long period of time. Just about any backrest feels pretty good, but the key is not the backrest, but the saddle. If you end-up disliking the saddle, then now you have a saddle and a backrest you have to sell, at a marked discount. Ride on that saddle for a while, break it in, see how you think you are going to like it on some multi-hundred mile trips. If it works for you, then go with the HD backrest options. If not, then go with some of the other recommendations.

I personally prefer the Mustang seat and backrest. I have tried dreadfully to "like" the HD seats, but it ain't happening for me. I have the stock HD seat in the box out in the garage if anyone wants it. And it's new.

Another vote for the HD adjustable. You can make adjustments while rolling - great for just changing position on long runs. I never take it off... but I'm an old guy!

Another vote for Mustang if you have a passenger the Mustangs back pad gives her more room as well. With the kneraled adjustment **** it has plenty of adjustment forward and backward too. Works with the mustang seat and also the stock Harley-Davidson seat.

Sounds like you need to pick your seat first. I'm happy with my HD backrest.
