Default 2007 FLHT Slipping in 5th gear problem

have a 2007 Electra Glide witht he 6 speed trans.. clutch is good and was just recently checked out.. Bike is Slipping in 5th gear like your riding along and the clutch is being pulled in and out as you throttle up.. 1-4 pulls hard with no problems and so does 6th gear.. but 5th you give alil gas and it doesnt feel good.. called harley and they mentioned a couple 2010 bikes with same problem and said something about a shift fork.. but couldnt tell me more.. bike has new clutch and only 23K miles on it.. it is a 103 built with Bolt in cams so not modified much.. cant really afford to do a trans right now so wondering if anyone has had a similar problem.. i did search on here but seemed like all i found was a clutch issue..

You say the clutch was just recently checked, was it adjusted? I had the exact same problem, followed the procedure for correctly adjusting the clutch, problem solved.

If adjusting the clutch doesn't cure the problem, you may need a stiffer clutch spring. After I did the FM 107, I had the same issues as you are. I installed the -98A spring and it cured my slipping in 5th. Here are a list of available springs. I believe they're around $30.00.

37882-06 blue paint dot (117 KgF/258 lbs/ft) 2006-88", 2007 thru 2010-96"
37871-04 yellow paint dot (135 KgF/ 298 lbs/ft) 2004-05 88" and 2010 Limited
37871-98A (145 KgF/ 320 lbs/ft) 1998-2003 Most recommended on forum for touring
37807-03 pink paint dot (165 KgF/ 364 lbs/ft) 2007 thru 2010-103 "Police"
37951-98 (175 KgF/ 386 lbs/ft) Current SE

With 103" built needs slightly heavier clutch spring,I wonder who ever work on the motor if they installed a heavier spring then the stock one, 98a or 04 should help or super duty 98 which makes the clutch really hard to pull.

i have a heavy duty clutch in the bike.. i recently had to change the clutch basket out and this has occured in the last couple days.. clutch was checked a month ago no problems.. will check adjustment on clutch again .. but i also checked Harley and they say there is an issue with 5th gear on the 6th speed trans.. so thats why i was asking.. my clutch is really hard to pull.. its strong enough i can pull wheelie in 1st n 2nd gear (of coarse on accident lol) so i know its not a weak clutch

gears dont slip, unless the tranny is on the verge of death, most likely clutch, just cause its new doesn't mean its adjusted properly or the spring is heavy enough.

Your terms slipping should be a clutch issue and inside the primary. Jumping completely out of gear (5th) could be a shift fork or something else but would be the transmission. Your FP seems to jumping back and forth between the two totaly different problems. If it's the transmission it pretty much going to be either in gear or not. Also if it is the clutch and slipping in 5th, I bet it is slipping in all gears. You probably just cannot really tell it. Now if it just sound's funny in 5th, it may be a bearing or chipped tooth in the 5th gear. Be sure you got the correct freeplay in the clutch and the proper clearance in the cable.

Slipping is almost always an adjustment issue.
