2007 FLHT Slipping in 5th gear problem
#11
If a clutch fork was bent it would fall out of gear 100% not slip. You got a slipping problem not a gear problem. Much cheaper.
Also, the problem he is mentioning is the older 6-speeds have a straight cut 5th and it whines..nothing to worry over, just noisy.
Your 103" in a 07 geared bike is not helping you. Get a better clutch and springs.

the way it acted i thought the belt was jumping.. why would it do it only in 5th gear and not 6th or any other gear? does not make sense.. clutch was working fine all month and just last night it started doing it ONLY in 5th gear.. and its the slightest throttle it does it .. Not under any hard thottle in 5th.. just barely hit the throttle and it jumps like the Belt is jumping but its not the belt either.. 6th i hammer it hard and its fine .. harley knows of a slight issue with 5th gear on 2010 bikes.. its like its not engaging all the way in 5th.. and it also miss shifts sometimes when going thru the gears.. shift into one gear and it drops back into another gear .. i think the trans is going out not a clutch ..

after having my mechanic ride it he seems to think i have a Bent Shift fork .. not allowing it to engage into 5th gear all the way.. like its trying to pop out of gear and back in .. gonna have it worked on in a week or so soon as he catches up .. so will keep posted what is actual cause ..

It's the shift fork, if it was the clutch it would slip in more than one gear, your mechanic is right, all the guessers on here are wrong. Mine, a 2000 5spd, does the same thing in 3rd gear, you used the wrong term when you said slipping, it feels more like the trans is jumping in & out of gear, correct? It's a more expensive problem with the 6spd because you have to fully disassemble it to change the shift forks, check all the bearings when you have it apart as that is a known problem with the 6spds.

Finally found out whats going on.. Put a Performance clutch in it and it still does the exact same thing as the stock clutch did with a heavy spring in it.. seems i have a Bent Main Shaft in the transmission.. slight bend in it causing it to make the clutch act wierd.. bought a used take out trans from someone upgrading to a baker 7 speed .. so hopefully will get rid of my problem i been having .. will update again after the reapir in the next week or so..
