2012 ... If money difference is not a major problem. New is always better.

Why?

Every time HD comes out with a larger motor (88 vs. 80, 96 vs. 88, and now 103 vs 96) someone posts that if you ride two up, you need the bigger motor. Sure, a little more power is always nice to have, but come on, we're not talking about 50 hp increases here. People rode two up for thousands of miles on the old 74" (1200 cc) motors. Granted, the difference between the 103 and the 74 is pretty large, but over it's predecessor? Will never get me to believe that. If HD had that philosophy, they'd put 110 motors in everything but the Sportsters.

In my opinion:

-Get the newest bike you can realistically afford.
-The newer frame (09 or newer) is far better than the old frame.
-ABS is the best safety feature Harley offers and a must have for me.

My choice would be either the 11 or 12. Since you said you have the money for any of them why not just go for the 12? It’s got the 103 (10% more power), the oil cooler and is one year newer. No brainer in my book…

As far as the heat thing; I have the 103 with the stuff you see in my sig. On hot days, hot is hot, don't care what anyone says...

Danny, I've had both the 96" and 103". On flat open roads there is not much difference between the two. However, in hilly areas like in my neck of the woods there is a noticeable difference in power for the better when riding two up.

If you have the money go with the 11 or 12. I have a 11 with 7000 trouble free miles on her, love it.

I like new stuff. With used there is always a chance you are getting someone else's headache.

The new bike comes with a warranty and less than 10 miles on the clock.

I love my 2011 SG. Iv'e had her since she had 3 miles.
